Morning Cocktails: White Wine Spritzer
The white wine spritzer always sounded like such an old-timey joke cocktail. But like many old-timey cocktails, they're kind of awesome. Especially since they're pretty much perfect for morning or early afternoon drinking during the summer.
The white wine spritzer is a good alternate when you find yourself getting a little tired of champagne. (Like that could happen.) It's also light and low-alcohol (unless you drink a lot of them), which makes it a good drink for when you want a drink but can't get away with three drinks. (Bridal and baby showers comes to mind.) They're great during the summer, and are best served really, really cold.
This is another one of my 2-ingredient recipes. Unless you count the ice as an ingredient, which some people do.
1/2 cup white wine
1/4 cup seltzer or club soda. (Ginger ale and Sprite or 7-Up are occasionally used as well.)
If you're using a collins glass like I was, fill the glass with ice, then pour in half a cup of white wine, then fill with the club soda. Garnish with a lime circle if you're being fancy.
If you keep the white wine and the club soda really, really cold, you can also make this in a wine glass and forgo the ice.
