A.C.'s Fantasy Shopping League: Acquired: Perfume, Desired: Glowing, crying candle head

I got a fragrance for Nick based on a really good review Cintra Wilson put in the NYT ( I didn't want to get a whole 4oz. bottle, so I got a set of 3 .5oz bottles.

The line is called Histoires de Parfums and they're made by a chef in Paris who got it into his head to make perfumes, and a lot of them are based on historical or literary figures. I got the Jules Verne one for Nick. I'm wearing it now and I do quite like it. It's strange though, his is like ... hmmmm. ... half of me. Ooh, I know what it is. This scent feels really rich, deep and thoughtfully intellectual but in a driven, passionate sort of way, if that makes sense. It's someone I want to talk to. But on me it is missing something. I'd like this as a base, but I want something more energetic and arty on top of it.

In other news, how much do I want this?

It's the "Bust of Dierdre" candle from DL & Co.. Yep, that thing is a candle. And the best part about it is that when you burn it, the whole head glows, like this:

And the wax comes out like this:

So cool.

The A.C. Fantasy Shopping League: Comme des Garçons

I'm seriously enamored of this Comme des Garçons blouse/jacket/thing from Fall 2008. I've been stalking it over on Yoox, where it's on sale for $660. Le sigh.

Style blogger Sea of Shoes has the most amazing picture of it:

Behold, the "Weir Royale" Olympic-Theme Cocktail at the Russian Tea Room

When I heard that tonight The Russian Tea Room was planning to debut a new cocktail inspired by Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, of course I had to go check it out. I mean, what could it look like? I was imagining Swarovski crystals and gilded crucifixes. Conveniently, I was right around the corner, so here it is, The Weir Royale:

It's made with Russian Czar's Gold Vodka, which is distilled through real gold. The Olympic-appropriate vodka is shaken with lemon juice and simple syrup, layered over Blue Curacao and served with a strawberry garnish in a martini glass rimmed with red sugar. Starting tonight, when Weir competes in the long program at the Olympics in Vancouver, the drink will be on the menu at The Russian Tea Room for $14.

Things I want today

Shocking! The Art and Fashion of Elsa Schiaparelli
I find myself toying with the idea of purchasing this for myself. But it's $169.22. But I really want it ...

I'm feeling Schiaparelli lately. I'm very tempted to buy a huge bolt of hot pink fabric and just wrap it around things in my house. Like the cats.
